Most entrepreneurs treat relocation as a single event: “I’m moving to Cyprus next month.” In reality, relocation is a 90-day operational sequence with 40+ specific actions, in a specific order. Skip a step or do them out of order, and you create months of bureaucratic problems. This Checklist is the operational sequence we walk our clients through, mapped out as a usable reference document. Thirty-six pages of practical steps, document lists, and timeline templates.
Why a checklist is the right format. Theory is for understanding. Action requires lists. When you are 60 days away from your move, juggling apostilles, rentals, deregistration, school enrolment, and bank applications, you don’t need another article on Cyprus tax law. You need to know exactly what to do this week, what to do next week, and what to have ready for the day you arrive. This guide gives you that, week by week.

The Checklist covers Cyprus, Portugal, Malta, Estonia, and Ireland: the five most common EU residency destinations for entrepreneurs in 2026. Each country has its own sequence with country-specific documents, agencies, and gotchas. Plus the universal framework that applies regardless of destination: the 90-day pre-arrival preparation, the 90-day post-move setup, and the deregistration sequences for Germany, UK, and Netherlands.

From Chapter 3, the Cyprus Relocation Checklist

Step 1, housing: sign a long-term lease in your name and put the electricity or water bill in your name too, because both go into your Yellow Slip file. Step 2, company: the Cyprus law firm you engage incorporates it, and your accountant registers it as an employer and registers you with Social Insurance as director or employee. Step 3, Yellow Slip: within four months of arrival, submit the MEU1 with the lease,

the utility bill and your employer's confirmation. Step 4, TIC: register as a taxpayer in Tax For All. Step 5, GESY: enrol once the Migration and Social Insurance registries can identify you; no TIC needed. Step 6, banking: open your personal account with the Yellow Slip, the TIC and a clear source-of-funds file. Step 7, Non-Dom: last, on form T.D.38 under your TIC, once you are tax resident and qualify.
